Bound For Glory was a bit lopsided. It felt like all the highest quality matches were at the start of the show. The main event seemed to be a footnote after the crowd blew their load cheering for Hogan. The matches were of a decent to high quality all evening, but there were certainly some bad bumps along the way. For the most part TNA lived up to their promises with this one, although I …

WWE Classics Freeview: Royal Rumble 1997 Review

This PPV shows that the WWF was full steam ahead on the Attitude Era by 1997. There was a lot of brawling and rough bumps throughout all the night’s matches. Race and sexuality were the basis of the majority of the angles on the card. There isn’t any blood or female nudity, but those are the only two Attitude staples that aren’t a focus. The show isn’t the strongest, but the Royal Rumble itself is … Read entire article »

The Chi-Town Struggle DVD exemplifies what ROH was all about in 2006 and still is now. Ring of Honor, without a doubt, is my favorite wrestling company in the world. The KENTA vs. Austin Aries match on this card says it all. This match alone was worth the price of this DVD. That is not even the last match. We get to see the hometown favorite Colt Cabana wrestle against Bryan Danielson for the ROH …

Hell in a Cell started strong, but ended on a weak note. HHH had to be the star of the show, even though he wasn’t booked in any way, shape or form. The guys on the card were doing their part to make the show a great one, but somehow that wasn’t enough. The “Conspiracy” angle hasn’t been handled in an interesting way. No one was shocked when two “fired” wrestlers showed up at the …

SHIMMER Volume 37 DVD Review

SHIMMER Women’s Athletes is one of PINFALL Magazine’s top 3 indy feds to follow. They feature an all-female roster, and they pull it off with flying colors. Volume 37 features plenty of returning ladies, and a number of new faces find their way into the mix as well. There’s not a bad match on the disc, but that’s nothing out of the ordinary when it comes to a SHIMMER production. Portia Perez and Dave Prazak … Read entire article »

Just when you thought the WWE was going in some kind of new direction, they go right back to the old way of doing things. The main event felt like something I saw on TNA Impact the last 2 years. The sad part is that the match was well on the way to being one of the best PPV matches of the year, and then they Bischoff’d/Russo’d/Hogan’d/NWO’d it. I don’t know what you call it …

While being aware and catching glimpses of ROH for years, I had never truly started to follow it until about a year ago. From what I understand, based on things I’ve heard and seen, ROH had its own “dark time” like any other company. Right now, ROH seems to have one of the best rosters they’ve had in a while, with a lot of great booking setting up well-built storylines. Tonight, some people will …

The professional wrestling documentary market isn’t exactly flooded, but Wrestling Road Diaries is one of the premiere releases in the genre. It follows one of the biggest rising stars in the WWE today (Daniel Byran Danielson), a self-made independent wrestling/internet star (Colt Cabana), and a lesser known guy who just loves the business (Sal Rinauro). The three of them make up a likable trio to follow around for nearly two weeks as they experience the …

WWE OMG: The Top 50 Incidents in WWE History DVD Review

WWE OMG: The Top 50 Incidents in WWE History DVD Review

I have to give it to the WWE, I’m sure they’re just trying to cash in a little bit on the Botchamania fandom, but this is an interesting DVD compilation. You can make a case for tons and tons of different moments for this list, but they nailed most of the trademark happenings. The four main people highlighted for this set are Steve Austin, Vince McMahon, Mick Foley, and The Undertaker. Each man makes multiple … Read entire article »

This is the first experience with New Era Wrestling that I’ve had the pleasure of viewing. Thanks to Damian Cole himself for hooking it up. One of the things that stood out early and often was the crowd. They were hot the entire show. There were fans of all ages getting into the action, and there’s no better way to create a great atmosphere than a fantastic crowd. Another thing I noticed was that NEW …
