PINFALL Magazine » Ring of Honor

The first episode of ROH TV featured tag team wrestling. In this show, Ring of Honor focuses on singles competition. We get to see “The Prodigy” Mike Bennett take on Jimmy Jacobs in a very competitive match. Then, the main event between El Generico and Jay Lethal is wrestling at its finest. Sure, the show can tend to move slowly at times due to, surprisingly, a lot of talking. There is no debate when the …

The Chi-Town Struggle DVD exemplifies what ROH was all about in 2006 and still is now. Ring of Honor, without a doubt, is my favorite wrestling company in the world. The KENTA vs. Austin Aries match on this card says it all. This match alone was worth the price of this DVD. That is not even the last match. We get to see the hometown favorite Colt Cabana wrestle against Bryan Danielson for the ROH …

Ring of Honor did everything they could not to make a statement on their first episode. They could have gone out and held an hour long match, and it would have been more interesting than what actually transpired. At least people would have been talking about what happened. There was nothing noteworthy on this initial episode. If anything it felt like an infomercial for their DVD’s with all the recaps and adverts concerning them. This …

While being aware and catching glimpses of ROH for years, I had never truly started to follow it until about a year ago. From what I understand, based on things I’ve heard and seen, ROH had its own “dark time” like any other company. Right now, ROH seems to have one of the best rosters they’ve had in a while, with a lot of great booking setting up well-built storylines. Tonight, some people will …

The 10 Count: American Wrestling Promotions You Should Be Following

On the heels of National Geographic’s “Slammed”, the interest in independent wrestling is a bit higher than usual. If you’re a wrestling fan, you know about the WWE, or what we used to call WWF. There’s also the lesser known (for good reason) TNA/Impact Wrestling, but it’s still relatively well known in comparison to what we call independent wrestling. For the third iteration of The 10 Count, PINFALL Magazine brings you 10 Independent Wrestling Promotions … Read entire article »

I have to say, watching any older Ring of Honor DVD is so much fun. “It All Begins” might not have been the most compelling card overall, but, I never walk away from a ROH DVD saying that I didn’t have a good time watching it. This show emanates from Cambridge, Massachusetts. A small basketball gym with the hoops in the background, a crowd five rows deep, real entrance music, no outside protective mats, just …

On September 24, Ring Of Honor will start a new chapter, when it premieres on Sinclair broadcasting stations across the country. I thought this would be a good time to go back and review the very first ROH show. It took place on February 23, 2002, and was an auspicious start to the promotion. This is Jamie Sessions’ first post on PINFALL Magazine, and hopefully he’ll keep bringing that classic indy goodness to the site …

Here’s another post from Dayton Marinkovich!… The Hammerstein Ballroom is one of the best venues for a pro wrestling event. The backdrop of the balconies along with the intense and smart crowds always makes for a big fight night feel. A great venue that hosts a hard-hitting and innovative company, that is Ring of Honor, equals wrestling gold. This is the review for Manhattan Mayhem 3. SPOILERS FOLLOW The DVD begins backstage with Rhett Titus and Kenny …

According to the official Ring of Honor website, Death Before Dishonor IX will take place on September 17, 2011 in New York at the Manhattan Center! This will also be broadcast live to the world via IPPV. There aren’t any matches announced as of yet, but with indy shows it’s not exactly safe to announce a card 2+ months in advance. Tickets are on sale at the ROH Store, so make sure to click the …

Near-Falls 15: Interview w/Kevin Steen

As you can probably tell from the interview, I’m a Kevin Steen fan. Dude just brings something to the table that I don’t see from anyone else in the business. His work is a crazy combination of violence and comedy, and it works on a level all his own. When I asked for this interview I didn’t actually expect a response, but as you can see Kevin Steen took the time to make it happen, … Read entire article »
