PINFALL Magazine » Indy Wrestling

The first episode of ROH TV featured tag team wrestling. In this show, Ring of Honor focuses on singles competition. We get to see “The Prodigy” Mike Bennett take on Jimmy Jacobs in a very competitive match. Then, the main event between El Generico and Jay Lethal is wrestling at its finest. Sure, the show can tend to move slowly at times due to, surprisingly, a lot of talking. There is no debate when the …

The Chi-Town Struggle DVD exemplifies what ROH was all about in 2006 and still is now. Ring of Honor, without a doubt, is my favorite wrestling company in the world. The KENTA vs. Austin Aries match on this card says it all. This match alone was worth the price of this DVD. That is not even the last match. We get to see the hometown favorite Colt Cabana wrestle against Bryan Danielson for the ROH …

Ring of Honor did everything they could not to make a statement on their first episode. They could have gone out and held an hour long match, and it would have been more interesting than what actually transpired. At least people would have been talking about what happened. There was nothing noteworthy on this initial episode. If anything it felt like an infomercial for their DVD’s with all the recaps and adverts concerning them. This …

In this episode of NWA Hollywood we get to see “Scrap Iron” Adam Pearce in the main event. This alone makes the episode worth the watch. The main event is always the must see bout, but in this company they make every minute count. A match between two former tag team partners also impresses in this one. NWA Hollywood brings it throughout the whole show, setting up another match between two former tag team partners …

SHIMMER Volume 37 DVD Review

SHIMMER Women’s Athletes is one of PINFALL Magazine’s top 3 indy feds to follow. They feature an all-female roster, and they pull it off with flying colors. Volume 37 features plenty of returning ladies, and a number of new faces find their way into the mix as well. There’s not a bad match on the disc, but that’s nothing out of the ordinary when it comes to a SHIMMER production. Portia Perez and Dave Prazak … Read entire article »

This was my first time watching this promotion (which is my local indy promotion), and it was a decent show. They managed to fit 5 matches into the hour they are allotted. Disco Inferno is amusing on commentary but I would much rather see him inn the ring. Overall this isn’t gonna be the most entertaining promotion you will watch but they put on a solid show and you might see a spot or two …
